I have been working on greening my home and others for over a decade. My hope is to share what I have learned to help make your next home as green as possible, without making you go through a ten year learning curve. Groups such as LEED-H and the National Association of Home Builders have worked hard to develop Green Building Guidelines/Checklists/Rating systems. These Guidelines identify many specific green building strategies, namely
While these Guidelines are wonderful resources, they are lengthy. Incorporating a balance of these features into a project can be daunting. My role is simply to help builders, architects and home owners incorporate these green building strategies into your specific building or remodeling project. Services might include:
*Because Energy plays such a key role in green building, I use several simulation programs, including REMRate and the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council's Energy-10 software. REMRate is NYS's selected software for rating Energy Star Homes. Energy 10 is a powerful energy simulation tool that analyzes—and illustrates—the energy and cost savings that can be achieved through more than a dozen sustainable design strategies. My services are customized to your needs and billed at an hourly rate - so you get and pay for only the services that you want and need.
